GOD is my SUPERSTAR

Time flies so fast and it's November already then in a blink of an eye, December will be just around the corner. People nowadays are too busy setting up their Christmas trees, belen, Christmas lights and lanterns and other yuletide stuff.

I haven't been updating this blog since last month because I don't have any escapades or new things to narrate for and I'm also busy in my office- work circle. Glad that I have friends here on blogger that keeps on updating by writing their own post about their new adventures, usual and different routines and new discoveries.

Early this morning I read some newspapers and I finally grasp a good topic to post here. It's a proven fact that reading for just 60 minutes a day can really refresh your mind so you can still catch up on what has been happening in our society today not just by watching TV programs but also by reading as well.

There is a section in Manila Bulletin that caught my attention and I read every detail that was written there. Do you still remember Raissa Laurel? A 23-year-old lass and Law student from San Sebastian College was one of the victims of DLSU bomb explosion last September 26 of this year.

Raissa was joining the traditional Salubong when the incident happened because she was standing right where the explosion occurred. She's one of the critical bomb victims there because her legs were mangled due to that plug-ugly mishap.

According to her, the mood was very festive because students from different universities nationwide were in high spirits and no amount of negative vibes and tension were felt during that time.

But in a tick of a clock, the bomb was exploded that changed her life and the other victims of it.
Indeed, Raissa accepted wholeheartedly her faith and still thankful because she's still alive and she's also feel overwhelmed because lots of people admired her courage in facing her life-changing journey.

I was touched by her story because even though she experienced that painful accident, she's still bubbly and has a positive outlook on life.

Her unwavering faith in God is worth admirable because she even insisted that she forgave those people behind that incident but she reiterated that the culprit should pay the consequences. Her words to that effect were "Justice will prevail. I know hindi hahayaan ni God na makatakas. Ako, napatawad ko na yung tao. Bahala ka, konsensya mo na lang."

As for my part, Raissa changed my views about life, my faith in God and how to accept things easily without any heavy load in heart. That we should be thankful for every blessing that comes our way and cherishes every moment that we are spending with our families and friends.

Sometimes, a certain person will come along and will you make realize that "Hey, amidst all the crisis, problems and issues you have, you are blessed because you can still get to wake up early in the morning and get along with your loved ones." BE THANKFUL!

Thanks, Raissa, for instilling to us that God is our Superstar and we don't need to worry because we have HIM and HE will never leave us despite that sometimes we are leaving and questioning HIM!

(Author's note: Raissa Laurel was check out in the PGH already (don't know the exact date) and now continuing her rehab. Let's pray for her speedy recovery and hope that she'll be a successful lawmaker someday.)

Remembering my Tatay...

My Nanay and I went to Himlayan Cemetery to visit my Tatay’s grave in remembering his 14th death anniversary. August 29 is the exact date of Tatay’s death anniversary but due to household chores that Nanay and I usually do every weekend, we decided to visit Tatay the following day (August 30, 2010). Yes, it’s been 14 long years that our Tatay left us due to lung cancer but his presence in our lives still lingers on. I was nine 9 years old when he passed away but the memories I’ve shared with my father are still very vivid and unforgettable. I considered my Nanay as the soft-spoken in our family while my Tatay was the disciplinarian. Though my father has a strong personality, I was never scared of him because I know that in his strong character, a good and loving father is what he really portrayed. I heard a lot of good comments about my father that most of our relatives liked him. They’ve said that my father was well-loved by everybody because of his character. Yes, he’s strict, but...

Slumdog Areas: Keeping their faith!

Have you watched Slumdog Millionaire? It's a story of a young boy who grew up in a depressed area in Mumbai, India. When he was young, he didn't bother with all the hatred, negative comments and poverty that surrounded him. Instead, he moved forward and he won a million bucks when he joined the Indian version of "Who wants to be a Millionaire"! Sounds interesting, right? During my college days, we had a subject entitled Program Planning and Building which we gathered information and data in our chosen barangays . We interviewed people from depressed areas about their lives in their slum houses. At first, I was a bit nervous and frigid because my thesis mates kept on teasing who will be the first one to conduct an interview. Because I have a soft spot with the people in slum areas, I decided to be the first one to mingle with them. We asked them about their jobs, families, their cost of living and what are their plans for the future. Some of them were hopeless case...

Disturbed but Inspired

I've been emotionally disturbed these past few weeks and I can't focus on my work because of this turmoil. This feeling started when I realized that I'm not happy with my work anymore because I'm used to the same old tales in the office. I'm looking for a new environment, new challenges and new kinds of stuff. I'm not against with my colleagues there, they are all my friends but as for me, I want to tend my resignation because I feel that I'm not enjoying anymore and I'm so frustrated that until now, the course that I took when I was in college, (which is Broadcast Communication) is still an elusive dream for me to work in a Network Station or Advertising Company. Yes, I've tried to applied there before, but the results are still pending. I'm not trying to sound sour grasping here, I just want to use my course in every work I'm going to because I didn't take Broadcast Communication for nothing. I have this dream that someday I'll be ...
